A new biography has been released about Robert Lewandowski and contains some big claims about life at Barcelona.
It’s already been revealed that Barcelona reportedly asked Lewandowski to stop scoring in his debut season, to avoid paying a bonus to Bayern Munich, and the media have now picked up another claim from the book.
This time it’s not all about Lewandowski, but an allegation that Andreas Christensen refused to come on as a substitute during Barca’s Champions League defeat to Inter last season.
Author Sebastian Staszewski writes: “Only Flick kept his wits about him. Knowing his team would be bombarded with crosses, he decided to bring on 187-centimeter Andreas Christensen.
“Flick’s assistant informed the defender, who then informed him that… his back hurt. Flick wasn’t convinced the Dane was truly hurt, but he didn’t have time to dwell on it , as Inter were throwing everything into the fight and every second counted.”
The Barcelona boss ended up sending on Lewandowski instead for the final minutes for Torres and could only watch as Inter scored two late goals to progress to the final.
