Eric Garcia joins Barcelona’s injured list with broken nose and set to miss Celta clash

Hansi Flick is set to be without another player on Sunday when Barcelona take on Celta Vigo in La Liga as Eric Garcia will miss out with a broken nose.

Garcia suffered the injury late on in Barcelona’s 3-3 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League. He said afterwards he thought he’d suffered a broken nose and was taken to hospital after the game.

Reporter Xavi Hernandez Navarro says Eric won’t recover in time for Sunday’s match, meaning Flick will likely have to go with Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi as his central defenders.

The two players appear to be Barca’s only fit center halves are present as Andreas Christensen’s fitness is again in doubt after he missed the trip to Club Brugge.

Cubarsi has also been dealing with physical issues in recent weeks but was a late substitute in Belgium, replacing Eric for the final moments of the match.

Barcelona head to Celta on Sunday under something of a cloud and with the defence very much in the spotlight after going nine games without keeping a clean sheet.
