Ferran Torres was on target for Spain on Saturday as La Roja cruised past Georgia in World Cup qualifying.
The Barcelona star was named in the starting XI for the match along with Pau Cubarsi, while Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo both had to settle for a place on the bench.
Spain took an early lead from the penalty spot through Mikel Oyarzabal. La Roja were awarded a spot-kick for handball, and the Real Sociedad star made no mistake to make it 1-0.
Martin Zubimendi doubled Spain’s lead midway through the first half, before Torres made it 3-0 with an easy finish from close range 10 minutes before the break.
With the game effectively wrapped up after the opening 45 minutes, Spain had to settle for just one goal in the second half when Oyarzabal bagged his second of the match with a header.
Fermin Lopez was sent on for the last 25 minutes, while Olmo stayed on the bench despite Luis de la Fuente’s pre-match praise.
The final whistle brought another 4-0 win for Spain and the team on the brink of automatic qualification for World Cup 2026. They finish off against Turkey and simply need to avoid a huge defeat to progress.
