Ferran Torres vows to ‘keep making it difficult’ for Hansi Flick after Barcelona hat-trick

Ferran Torres walked off with the match ball against Real Betis after bagging a hat-trick in a 5-3 win for Barcelona on Saturday night.

The forward is making a strong case to be Barcelona’s starting striker this season over Robert Lewandowski and has vowed to keep making it difficult for Hansi Flick to leave him out after the game.

“You don’t score a hat trick every day, but the statistic of eleven goals doesn’t mean much to me. I knew I could be a starter at Barça, fight for a place, and I’m going for many more goals. My job is to keep making it difficult for the coach,” he told Movistar.

“The most important thing, though, is winning on such a difficult pitch. As I always say, Betis is a direct rival at the top, one of those teams that makes things very difficult, and we knew we had to compete from the first minute. It was very important to win, and we knew how to react to their early goal. I think the most important thing was that reaction to the first goal. That’s one of our keys to success.”

Lewandowski stayed on the bench for Saturday’s game but will be hoping to be involved next time out against Eintracht Frankfurt.
