Julian Alvarez breaks silence on Barcelona transfer talk

Julian Alvarez has responded to speculation that he’s wanted at Barcelona and has refused to rule out a future move away from Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina international is thought to be a target of Barcelona president Joan Laporta, and he’s well aware of the interest from the Catalan giants.

“Do I plan on playing at Barcelona or at PSG? Honestly, I don’t know. I see what people say on social media… in Spain, people speak a lot about me and Barcelona […] for now, I am focused on Atlético and we will review at the end of the season,” he told L’Equipe.

Alvarez also admitted that he has spoken with PSG before signing for Atletico Madrid.

“When I signed for Atlético, we spoke a lot about Paris. It’s true. There were discussions between the PSG hierarchy and my agent. They showed interest in signing me, but it didn’t happen,” he added.

The Atletico star has nine goals in 14 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side so far this season. If he does move on in the summer, it’s expected Atletico will demand a huge fee for his services.
