‘What a terrible night’ – Eric Garcia reacts to Barcelona’s Champions League defeat to Chelsea

Eric Garcia admitted Barcelona had endured a “terrible night” after being beaten 3-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

A Jules Kounde own goal added to strikes from Estevao and Liam Delap saw Hansi Flick’s side humbling at Stamford Bridge.

Here’s what Eric Garcia made of it all:

“What a terrible night. We were coming off a good game against Athletic. We started the game well and had a couple of really good chances. We tried to hold on a bit in the second half, but 2-0 is a killer,” he told the media.

“I think they were pressing us. We didn’t adjust properly. We tried to jump with the full-backs and it was impossible. We had to run after the ball the whole time.

“The matches we’ve played are familiar. We need to be more competitive in these types of matches. The duels, second balls… if you don’t make yourself strong, it’s impossible to win.”

Ronald Araujo was also sent off on a really bad night for Barca that leaves Flick’s men down in 15th place in the standings ahead of another round of fixtures on Wednesday night.
