Why Hansi Flick has benched Raphinha for Barcelona against Real Betis

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has raised a few eyebrows with his starting XI for Saturday’s clash against Real Betis in La Liga.

Raphinha has been dropped to the bench, while there are starts for Marcus Rashford and Roony Bardghj against Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

According to Diario AS, Raphinha has dropped out due to a small issue. Javi Miguel reports: “Raphinha is a substitute due to a right adductor strain. It’s the same leg that suffered the biceps femoris injury, which has recurred twice. Every precaution is necessary.”

Flick also spoke about his team before kick-off: “I hope we can maintain the same level as the other day against a great team and get three points. We know how Betis plays, but the important thing is to focus on our own game.

“Roony is showing in training how good he is; he deserves to play.  Raphinha is fine, but we have to be careful with him because the match against Atlético was very intense for everyone, especially for Raphinha.”

Barcelona also have a busy week ahead, with Eintracht Frankfurt up next in the Champions League.
