Barcelona star Marc Bernal set to play for Catalunya in friendly clash

Marc Bernal will see some game time over the international break as he is set to feature in a friendly for Catalunya against Palestine.

The midfielder has been used sparingly by Hansi Flick since returning from a serious injury and wasn’t called up by the Spain Under-21 squad over the international break due to his lack of game time.

Barcelona have confirmed that Bernal has been called up by Catalunya for a charity game against Palestine at the Estadi Olímpic on Tuesday.

It will be Bernal’s first appearance for Catalunya and a chance to get some minutes in his legs before domestic action resumes against Athletic Club.

Bernal is expected to see more game time as the season progresses and will hoping to be involved in some capacity against Athletic Club.

Hansi Flick will be without Frenkie de Jong due to suspension for that match, while it seems unlikely Pedri will be ready to return in time. Marc Casado has also picked up a knock but it’s thought he should be fit to face Ernesto Valverde’s side.
