Robert Lewandowski has been hailed as a “complete professional” by Poland boss Jan Urban who has revealed just how impressed he’s been by the Barcelona striker.
The Poland ace turned 37 in August but continues to ply his trade at the very top of the game. Urban says that Lewandowski’s professionalism is impressive and is something former stars such as Ronaldinho would not be able to cope with.
“Lewandowski is a complete professional, a true professional and an example for everyone. Ronaldinho or Ronaldo would not accept living like him. It’s also a matter of education,” he told Foot Truck.
“Despite not knowing him until now, however, what I saw was the same as what I saw from a distance: an incredible demand on himself, professionalism and, above all, what he does almost perfectly: finish the action and score goals. He is a top-level footballer because of what he demands of himself.
“Until I became national coach, I didn’t even have the chance to talk to him or shake his hand. I only knew him from observation. When I saw him training, on the field, in a game, he was the Robert I imagined. And so it has been. He is an example for everyone and a player with whom you can work very well.”
Lewandowski’s future is unclear as he’s currently into the final year of his contract at Barcelona. Recent reports have suggested he is keen to stay on, but Barcelona are yet to make a decision on his future.
In the meantime the veteran will also be hoping to head to the World Cup in the summer. Poland made it into the play-offs and face Albania next in March.
