Marc Guehi emerges as Deco’s top choice for Barcelona

Barcelona are currently thought to be mulling over their defensive options after losing Andreas Christensen to an ACL injury.

The Dane is expected to be sidelined for several months in what is a real blow for club and player. As Barca are also without Ronald Araujo currently, it leaves the Catalans short at the back.

Hansi Flick has said he’ll talk to Deco about the possibility of recruiting in the January transfer window, meaning speculation is rife that Barca could add a new center-back.

According to Diario Sport, Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is Deco’s top choice for the position. The Barca chief prefers Guehi to other targets such as Nico Schlotterberck and Pau Torres.

However, Guehi has also attracted interest from a host of top clubs across Europe which means competition for his signature is fierce.

Guehi is now into the final year of his contract and is expected to leave Selhurst Park in the summer.

He’s unlikely to move in January but is able to talk to overseas teams from the start of the year and looks to have his pick of clubs right now.
