The Curry Barker film has collected an impressive $3.2 million on its 5th Wednesday. It is the biggest 5th Wednesday for horror movies all time, with just a 23.8% drop from last Wednesday, after adding 168 theaters last Friday. It is now running across 3,068 places in North America. After the fifth Wednesday, the movie had hit the $198.7 million cume at the North American box office [via Box Office Mojo]. It is less than $2 million away from crossing the $200 million milestone domestically.

According to reports, Obsession will be the 8th horror movie ever to cross the $200 million milestone at the North American box office. It is also the first film ever released by Focus Features to cross this mark. The Curry Barker movie is also the first horror movie of the year to cross the $200 million domestic mark. By Saturday, it is expected to surpass It Chapter Two’s $211.6 million run to become the 7th-highest-grossing horror movie in North America all time.
