Andreas Christensen suffers injury in training and ruled out of Villarreal vs Barcelona

Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has reportedly picked up another injury and been ruled out of Sunday’s La Liga game with Villarreal.

The Dane was back in the starting XI in midweek and also on the scoresheet in the 2-0 victory over Guadalajara.

He will no doubt have been hoping for more minutes on Sunday at La Ceramica but was a late withdrawal from the squad after picking up a problem in training on Saturday afternoon.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Christensen was injured in an “accident at the end of training” and will now undergo further tests. Barca haven’t offered an update at present “at the player’s request.”

Seeing Christensen sidelined again is a sad way for the Denmark international to end the year, particularly after he had spoken in midweek at his delight at playing meaningful minutes again for Barcelona.

Let’s hope it’s not a serious problem and he can return to action at the start of 2026.
