‘Bad news’ – Monaco boss confirms injury for Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati

Monaco boss Sébastien Pocognoli has confirmed that Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati has suffered a hamstring injury and is out of his team’s next game against Stade Brestois on Friday.

Fati missed training on Wednesday due to the problem and Pocognoli offered an update an his pre-match press conference.

“Ansu Fati suffered a hamstring injury on Tuesday at the end of training. We expect tests today. Bad news,” he told reporters.

It’s not clear yet how serious Fati’s injury is, or how much time he’ll miss, but it’s undoubtedly another setback for the youngster.

Fati had been thriving at Monaco at the start of the season when he finally made his debut, scoring six times in five games and winning the Player of the Month award at the club.

However, Monaco then hit a bad patch – dismissing manager Adi Hutter – and Fati’s goals have dried up.

The Barcelona star has not scored in his last nine matches in all competitions and will hope he’s not sidelined for too long.
