Barcelona closing in on January transfer for Al-Ahli striker Hamza Abdelkarim

Barcelona are reportedly closing in on a deal for young Egypt and Al-Ahli striker Hamza Abdelkarim and are hoping to bring him to Catalunya in the January transfer window.

Recent reports have claimed that Barca have made an offer for the teenager and want to sign him for Juliano Belletti’s side, who have been rocked by injuries to key players so far this season.

A new report from Mundo Deportivo states that Barcelona are now in pole position to sign Abdelkarim and the plan is for him to join when he turns 18. The youngster celebrates his birthday on New Year’s Day.

Abdelkarim could potentially go straight into the team if he does sign. Belletti is without Òscar Gistau and Víctor Barberá due to injury and badly needs some firepower.

The teenager has caught the eye recently at the Under-17 World Cup where he played for Egypt and scored in group games against Haiti and Venezuela.
