Barcelona sporting director Deco has admitted the club are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi who has attracted interest from a host of clubs.
Guehi is out of contract at the end of the season and able to talk to overseas clubs from January 1st. He is expected to leave Selhurst Park, with Barca one of several clubs thought to be keen.
Deco has been asked about the situation and says he does like Guehi but insisted he’s not thinking about transfers right now.
“He’s a good player, but we’re monitoring many players. But, I repeat, we’re not focused on signings right now,” he told SER Catalunya program ‘Qué t’hi jugues.’
Barcelona are thought to be keen to strengthen defensively, although Deco also admitted Eric Garcia is close to renewing his contract: “Yes, he will renew. Details remain to be finalized.”
Deco was also asked about Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s future, with the goalkeeper expected to move on, but was pretty coy on what may happen next.
“Tthe first thing is that he is cleared and can be called up with the team,” he added.
“Ter Stegen must recover and when he is available the coach will decide. He will return with the intention of playing and can be first, second or third goalkeeper. That will be seen. He has a contract with Barça and that’s what is clearer.”
