‘We’re not setting a date’ – Deco talks Ronald Araujo’s temporary leave of absence from Barcelona

Barcelona sporting director Deco has offered an update on Ronald Araujo after the defender was granted a leave of absence by the club following his red card against Chelsea in the Champions League.

Araujo has asked for time away to recover mentally from the setback and it’s not known yet when he will return to action.

Deco is backing Araujo to recover well but says the club have not put on a date on when the defender will play again.

“Araujo is doing well, he’s in his prime. I think he’s going to recover. It’s a specific moment and we’re not setting any date,” he told Què T’hi Jugues.

“It has to be a gradual process, recovering until he reaches his full potential.”

Barcelona fans showed their support for Araujo during Tuesday’s win over Atletico, holding up message of support at the game at the Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, Araujo was spotted arriving at the Ciutat Esportiva on Wednesday but is yet to resume first-team training with his team-mates.
