Barcelona planning to surprise Hansi Flick with new contract offer

Barcelona are reportedly planning to offer manager Hansi Flick a new contract until 2028.

Flick is currently contracted to Barcelona until 2027 after signing an extension in May of last year after winning three trophies in his first season with the Catalan giants.

According to SPORT BILD, Joan Laporta has been making plans and wants to lock down the coach for another year. Flick has previously stated his preference for short-term contacts but it seems Laporta wants to secure his future.

The report also adds that Laporta is also plotting “to bring in new star players.” However, the problem as always is how the Barcelona president plans to afford such big-money signings.

Laporta has said recently there is money available if the club needs to splash out and a high-profile recruit may be targeted if Robert Lewandowski departs when his contract expires in the summer.

However, we’ll have to wait and see if Barca are in a position to spend big at that point and what positions are a priority for Hansi Flick and Co following the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
